[Durango, Colorado] – The Rodney Ems Memorial Golf Scholarship is proud to announce the recipients of its annual scholarship program for the year 2023. The scholarship program, which recognizes the academic and athletic achievements of students pursuing higher education, has selected four outstanding individuals to each receive a $3,500 scholarship.
The four scholarship recipients all demonstrated a dedication to academic success, strong leadership qualities, and service to their community. The following are the recipients of the Rodney Ems Memorial Golf Scholarship for the year 2023:
· Nicholas Best, a senior at Durango High School, will be pursuing a degree in Architecture at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Nicholas plans to play club golf and keep improving his game. He is looking forward to keeping a strong work ethic and a drive for success while he starts this exciting new chapter of his life.
· Eliza Bosmans, a senior at Durango High School, will be pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech University in Atlanta. She will continue improving her golf game and martial arts skills as well as exploring the many opportunities that Atlanta has to offer. Most of all, she is looking forward to meeting like-minded students and staying focused on achieving her academic goals.
· Zayda Mestas, a senior at Durango High School, will be pursuing a degree in biochemistry with a minor in psychology at the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls. She is excited to continue her golf career at the collegiate level.
· Natasha Walcott, a senior at Durango High School, will be pursuing a degree in Accounting at Metropolitan State in Denver. In playing golf and being a student, she has learned perseverance is the foundation of success. She looks forward to continuing her education and her lifelong venture in golf.
The Rodney Ems Memorial Golf Scholarship is proud to recognize these four exceptional student-athletes for their academic and athletic achievements. We are confident that they will continue to excel in their academic pursuits, make a positive impact in their communities and maintain their love of the game.
The Rodney Ems Memorial Golf Scholarship was established in honor of Rodney Ems, a passionate golfer and avid supporter of his community. Rodney believed in the power of education and the values that golf instills. The scholarship is open to student golfers who are seniors from a Colorado high school in the Four Corners region. Applicants need to demonstrate their love of the game of golf and how it has had an impact on their lives.
